This July, the Federal Government will set the stage for the unveiling of “50 most innovative startups” in Nigeria, at the first ever Aso Villa Demo Day. President Muhammadu Buhari will host the brightest startups from across the country as they pitch to a wide range of investors and decision-makers in the public and private sector. Aso Villa Demo Day is aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, job creation and economic growth through the use of new and emerging technologies. This event will celebrate some of the best Nigerians in technology innovation and creativity and also feature inspiring talks from thought leaders and experts from different economic sectors in Nigeria. AVDD2016 will give 100 startups the stage to pitch their ideas before a dedicated panel of Judges, Investors and Sponsors THE PITCH | Thursday, June 23rd | Landmark Event Center, Lagos. THE UNVEILING | Thursday, July 28th | State House Conference Center, Abuja.

N-Power Nigeria

The Federal Government of Nigeria has designed the N-Power Programme to drastically reduce youth unemployment. The focus is to provide our young graduates and non-graduates with the skills, tools and livelihood to enable them advance from unemployment to employment, entrepreneurship and innovation. The first phase of N-Power will target Nigeria’s critical needs in education, agriculture, technology, creative, construction and artisanal industries. N-Power is also preparing Nigeria for a global outsourcing push where our young Nigerians can export their services to work on global projects that earn Nigeria, foreign exchange.

NPOWER 500000 applicant from different fields are required to apply.

Entrepreneurship Development Programme

CBN Heritage Bank

Heritage Bank has been adopted by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as the sole pilot bank for the Youth Innovative Entrepreneurship Development Programme (YIEDP). The programme is aimed at harnessing the latent entrepreneurial spirit among the teeming youths by providing timely and affordable loans to implement their business ideas. This further provides a sustainable mechanism to stimulate employment, contribute to the Nation’s non-oil GDP, and address the challenge of youth restiveness.

The following categories of youth (aged 18 – 35) are eligible under this scheme:

  • Serving youth corps members *
  • Non-NYSC (not more than 5 years post NYSC) Qualified Business Sectors: 
  • Agro – Allied
  • Food Processing / Preservation
  • Arts & Crafts, * Manufacturing / Cottage Industry
  • Information & Communication Technology (ICT)
  • Construction Support, * Power & Energy
  • Education & Financial Inclusion
  • Film & Photography
  • Automobile and others.

The details below are relevant for all eligible youth: Eligible youth can apply for the loan through this portal http://www.yiedp-hbng.com/ using his/her NYSC State Code. Applications can be made as an Individual or as a group (of 3-5 applicants with similar business interest).

A single applicant can access up to a facility limit N3m while group project jointly owned by 3-5 qualified beneficiaries can access up to a facility limit of N10m.

Applicants can also track application status via the same portal. Security: Graduate entrepreneurs will use their tertiary institution(s) certificate(s) and their NYSC discharge certificate.

Serving Corp members will pledge their NYSC discharge certificate and their tertiary institution(s) certificates(s). Also, legal ownership of assets financed by the Bank and 3rd party guarantors will be requested as additional collateral from all entrepreneurs. The application portal will be open for a limited period. However, you can refine your business ideas before the submission.

ICT4Change Youth Empowerment

Federal Government in partnership with Huawei Enterprise Have has organized “ICTforChange” . This program is designed for Universities/Polytechnics Graduates of Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, ICT, Civil & Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics and other ICT related courses. All applicants must be between 18 – 30 years. The training is FREE but successful applicants are to provide for their living and transport expenses. The training is in these sections.

2. Huawei Certified Datacom Associate (HCDA) certification
3. Telecoms Power
4. BTS and Mircrowave Installation
